Paid $300 used, lovin' it. The SH-09 is a great alternative to the more common SH-101. For such a simple, single-oscillator monosynth (although the sub-oscillator nearly makes up for that), you can get an amazing variety of sounds and effects from this little beast. Plus it's so cute!

My Roland SH-09 has been the heart and soul of many a great space rock band through the years, and I wouldn't trade it for anything.

An always reliable machine coupled with a compact size and some of the thickest synth sounds out there, in my mind this little baby is the perfect gigging synth. From the HUGE bass sounds that send massive vibrations rattling up the crowd's collective spine to those sterility-inducing squelches that have them coming back for more every time, the SH-09 simply cannot be ignored.

These days with literally thousands of machines that can do more than the SH-09, what makes this synth stand out from the crowd (even among it's contemporaries) is the rock-solid construction. If you plan on going on the road, the SH-09 will put up with more abuse than anything else you own. Now that's something to be proud of. I once hit a guy upside the head with mine, plugged it back in and continued on with the show...

I bought mine in 1980, played it for about 6 years and then stuck it in the closet. Just pulled it out a month ago and started messin with it again. Glad to know there's others out there that like this little beast. I need a manual though. Any help is appreciated.

Wow. This synth kicks ass. The filter is just a killer in its own right. And being able to sync the cutoff to any external source, like the hi hat from my drummachine, a bass, a guitar, anything that makes some noise.

Get it now before the price gets to high... i guess around 200... is a price worth paying.
