Another way of getting the juices flowing with this box is programming your own arpeggio patterns. You can realy get some cool grooves running on this box by doing some simple step programming. Coax out a nice sound and then run the pattern = instant gratification. Again for the price you get a box with it's own unique and distinct sounds(and quirks)and it's easy to use.

Get one !!!!

Bought it for 210 and for the money its a steal. It can emulate previous roland classics like the juno 106,jupiter 8,sh101,jx8p and is very true to the origionals but gives more advanced editing thanks largely to the fx and lfo waveshapes. one concern though is the feedbackish bass/bottom end that is still present after turning off the low boost function, and the distortion when playing sounds at high cutoff on the filter that reminds me of my roland xp80 when the waves are too loud in the WG tone palette section. Even with these flaws the Roland SH-32 is without question the next best thing to the overpriced silly world of old analog classics. The variations of all the waveforms available (67 in all!) makes sound editing possibilitys very interesting but not endless but its got character which i like in a synth and i dont want to have to buy loads of fx units to put an old analog synth through cause thats backwards to me and alot of time wasting in the studio.

Have to agree with Chainsaw, i'm pretty shure that even the bersynths like Waldorf, Neuron etc.. have their flaws, but if you look at the price/features you get it is hard to critisize.

Had this now for 3 weeks and have to say that my A soundbank is practically full already with new sounds. It is so easy to tweak and twist new sounds and i still like the overall sound of the unit.

Live with the limitations or like in my case exploit them and come up with unique sounds. I'm sure that when you put in the effort only a 'real' expert can do the blindfold test when comparing similar sounds on different machines.

Again for the price Roland is selling these now you can't and shouldn't complain(IHO).

happy blips

I can't believe how everyone on this forum is just bickering back and forth... It's really quite pathetic.

If you don't like it, you don't have to use it, you know... And furthermore, you can't force people to stop liking it, so if that's all you're interested in doing, please get lost, for the sake of this thread.

Anyway, I liked the sounds of the SH-32 quite a lot. There's a lot of usable sounds on it, and there's several unusable sounds on it, but overall, for $200, you will find precisely nothing better. The 808/909 soundbanks are enough to keep me hungry for more, let alone the powerful synth engine that creates anything from your standard fare vintage sounds to the latest techno sounds. It caters to a wide audience, and while it has its downers (like the audible "zip" when doing filter sweeps), you'll be able to find a ton of great things to do with this synth. If you can't see past those minor flaws, then I pity you, because you're missing out on a great synth.

Of course, that's my opinion, and we all know what those are worth...
