Clifton Bryant a hobbyist user from USA writes:
This unit is not just for hip hop any more, It's for any type of music you can think of. If you have Cakewalk Kinetic2 along with Project5 version 2, your in for some serious stuff. It's an upgrade from the p606 software in a sense that you can do more. Works great with Windows Vista for a 24 bit output recordings also. I don't know about the MPC's but I think the sp-606 is a great unit, that's all I can say.

Dj Frantic a professional user from USA writes:
I give this unit a 4 out of 5. It has everything you need except the ability to change hte pitch of your samples. Aside from that, its amazing. If you are chopping up loops this thing is a dream. Use the FX section to give u a FAT gritty sound.

satz a hobbyist user from Australia writes:
This unit is designed specifically for the computer musician. Do not buy this unit if you are seeking a stand-alone sampling workstation.

4 channel stereo polyphony(8 channel mono), very limited sequencer, pattern sustain problems, operating system bugs, no real record function & poor amplification(I highly recommend you invest in a pre-amp if you going to be purchasing this unit).

However, The SP-606 really shines when used with the P-606 software. It actually feels more like a control surface designed specifically for the software than an actual sampler.

I can see this unit really working well for laptop musicians. It can provide a live element to their performance.

I found quite a few of the built-in effects to be fun. Personal favourites are the bitcrusher & the Guitar Amp Simulator.

Overall, the SP-606 works great as a MIDI control surface for the P-606 software, but if you're going to purchase it for use as a sampler, look elsewhere.
