I have it, together with a Simmons SDS-9, a Korg DD1, Zoom MRT-3, and finally with a Pro drum I just bought. The only problem, I use it for hi-hats, cymbals, percussion as well as for effects, and for midi-triggering, but I just can't set the MIDI to transmit the hi-hat pedal to Cubase SX or Reason. So, it really doesn't help too much as a midi controller without manual. Is there any manual anywhere on the net?! Help me, please! Otherwise, it's a great piece of gear, strong, and the new stuff like the SPD-20 aren't too different, anyway. Roland only added loops and sounds, basically it's almost the same thing. icarus@net.hr

There is now complain for SPD11 users, because it is so user friendly and fun to play. I am using this Drum since 6 to 7 years and i have no problem till now and without SPD11 i cannot do my show, i play every types of drums,african, acoustic,India and this thing has become like my soul, I donnnno what else i can say, if you are beginer and full time drum player i will advise that every drum player should have SPD11 with you.

Brilliant sounds, editing effects are cool. Have been using it for about 5/6 years, recently expanded it with 3 PD-6 pads *note*u can also use a pd-6/other pad as a base drum, buy a small stand to mount it vertically then u have the option of using a double beater- adjust the sens trig on the spd-11 to give great results! and not only does it look cool, but u have the option of not using the pad as a base drum-an extra pad.
Must say that the MIDI stuff is quite naff. Tried interfacing with various keyboards and Dr Rhythm aswell as a pc and it's not worth the hassle.
Really compact and handy, quite a tough unit, i've had accidents and it still works!
Another tip- I've seen someone putting a huge tight plastic wrapper around it, this could minimise the amount of rubber peeling off the pads as u play as the pads tend to worn out (the surface) over the years regardless of trig sens, but bear in mind it does'nt look good. Overall a 4 out of 5.

I bought this puppy new in 1993. At first it was my sole source of drums (until I bought a D5 and a bunch of pads, hi-hat,etc). I STILL use it as a trigger in for a few pads and for my hat hat. It sits in the place of the hi-hat and I also use the other pads for extra sounds.
It still has great sounds and makes a perfect compliment to my D4 and offers an extended range of sound and nice quality strange sounds that I can't get in the D4. So, D4 for bread and butter, SPD-11 for icing on the cake.
Triggering appears quality, no problem there.
2 Outputs (I WISH it had more!), 4 Trigger in's, 8 rectangle pads on top. Desktop or mount on drum stand (like I have it). Built in effects, but they are rather generic.
I rate it 4.5 because it's not the newest thing out but it was a 5 when I bought it!
I've never had 1 problem with it. Bullet proof.
I paid about $625? new, on special.

Sounds good and it's FUN to play. Very therapeutic at times. Wonderful stress releiver and exercise aid. Layer the pads well and you get some real authentic drum sounds. Whack the thing as hard as ya want... it'll take it. Good dynamic range with pretty good tonal changes in response to velocity. You'll play e-drum sounds differently with this thing. 64 programmable kits in the DR 660 vein. Enough variety in waveforms (255) and parameters (lots) to keep things interesting. I like it a lot. 4 stars PLUS!!!
