These 808:s are going to cost like old guitars in the future, hold on to them, i have clients that would pay anything to get a hold of one.

Lars Westin a professional user from Sweden writes:
Soulful electronics, yes that’s it! The Roland TR-808 is pure analogue and has a sequencer that’s rock solid and light-years from a DAW when it comes to timing and feel… The magic of this machine is known by most professionals and it is definitely a must have in the studio if you are working with RnB HipHop and Soul music. I got mine from Ebay some month ago and the funny thing is that I can program I simple pattern and listen to it as it is without getting bored, there is something happening all the time and the groove has a magic to it! I know old hardware sequencers like the one build in to the Ensoniq ESQ1 and the old Atari (not hardware…yes I know…) 1040 with Cubase, they are so much tighter than a PC DAW sequencer. And the TR-808 is, even better… The soul is in the groove and also in the irregularity of the analogue sound… These are the 2 components that make the difference. These machines will climb in price range so get one while you can!

I will _never_ sell mine that is for sure. :)

the 808 rocks!! one of the best machines ever, timeless! i tried a lot, jomox and others but the 808 is different. why don t they build something like this today?? i like its simplicity, to program on the fly, u are not disturbed by a lot of menus and sub menues and all this useless things...! it s just what u need at the tip of ur fingers, it really grooves, and sounds fantastic. so, constructors of this world, this kind of instrumens we need!

rauschwerk a professional user from germany writes:
the tr-808 is the best drum-machine ever made (imo). I've been using it for years and it sounds still awesome. If you're looking for an ultimative e-drum sound for electro and/or nu-electro productions, the 808 brings it out. Unfortunately each 808 box sounds different to the other (similar to the way of different sounding of the Korg MS20 or Minimoog series..). At the beginning of 2000 I've changed the tr-808 for the tr-909, but after using the 909 for 2 years I've sold it and got the tr-808 back.

Simon a professional user from The Bronx U.S writes:
Its a deft beat box, with killer sounds. But more than that its part of urban music history. This classic was used on the first breakthrough electro classic ***PLANET ROCK***. I own this baby along with the other essential classic beatbox THE OBERHEIM ***DMX***. No beat machines, samplers whatever, will ever steal their shine. They rule forever. 10 OUTTA 10!
