i had one in 89 just costed me $135,i paid another $100 to a tech for modded it to midi sync.it worked for me for years, then it died,i sold.fortunately i bought one this year just for $500 but w/ a missing switch, but sounds more better than my old one,at least no those noisy pots clips.deep booming kicks, snappiest snares, sharpiest hihats, unique electro cowbells, good reverb claps w/ a lot of true analog perc(even unique and better than those 8bit samppled perc on 909 imo).knobs and outs and solid built.i'll never sell this again.promised.

Mark a professional user from U.S writes:
must agree, the drumstation sounds very flat compared to the punchy retro sound of the orginal, the hihats & cymbals sound way off, the kick has more of a tom tone (there is no kick as deep as the 808 bd) and the snare is't nearly as sharp as the orginal and it isn't that exspensif if you consider what you get: 16 round warm analouge percussion sounds with induvidual out for every sound!, a nifty step sequencer with some cool features and great feel, then there is the funky vibe it brings in the studio.. so for about $50-75 buks per sound your lauging.

if your not rich and famous yet, then yes this thing has a price tag

but let me tell you party people and producers, this thing in its authentic 1980 orginal form is the way to go..

I've monkeyed around with rebirth, sampled 808/909 on a dr rhythm and it simply doesn't sound the same digitally as it does analog...

novation has a nice little remake thing going, but it has a hefty price tag to.

needless to say, the 808 represents

feedback welcomed
