The 808 is definetly the best Drum-Machine ever built. If you love Electro and Bass, you love the 808. Man, forget Rebirth, forget Mc-505 and all of that new stuff, if you wanna go for it, you just gotta have the TR-808. I never heard anything like the bassdrum, decay on 100%, snare on 5 and 13, there ya goin.........Queen of Bass!!!!!!

This is probably the sexiest drum machine known to man! It's just so smooth sounding. Yea, the drum Station does a nearly perect 808, but the groove isn't there. But i did never try it with a 626 though. You can even use the external sequence track on the 909. But a real 808 just has this sexy groove you can't get any where else. I've never personally used a real 808, only rebirth and a drumstation for those 808 sounds, but what i have to say is OK you can sample the 808, but will you get real time tuning? i love real time tuning of drum parts, lots of knobs, good sounds and a good sequencer all of which the 808 seem to have, for the price they're going for now 700-850 i think it's a pretty good deal for everything you're getting, what else has a great seq lots of knobs a great sound and many outputts? out of the new shit the electribes don't have outs and their sound isn't powerful enough on their own they need effects, the 2 other things that offer what the 808 offers are the xbase and mc505, the xbase is what $800 and is only 4 voice polyphonic? and the mc505, something about being groove approved frightens me...the sounds aren't tthat great and it's $1200 new now? i just think befotre saying something's too expensive look what else offers what it offers and look at it's price, 808s and 909s aren't that expensive...taken into consideration everything they offer..and oh yea hawtin definately used an 808, 606, 909, 101, 202, 303 and a 707...

808 XOXO what ever ...... cool box everybody trys to imitate it ...People Wake up ! Purist WAKE UP ! Nice for house , but hard to sequence hardcore breaks with this thing ..... its good for sampling people rode on horses before cars , now we sample instead of squared off analogue sequencing beat boxes , I have a tr808 , had it for a while , my Emu E4 replaced it very quickly though , the 808 is a good converstation piece ....and good to build samples , please don't pay over $500 for one of these , but if you want one bad enough I will sell mine for $750 regards Jason d
