Ain't nuthin' like a pounding 909, when compared to ANY other drum machine... analogue or digital. Put it side by side with anything else, and it will blow it out of the water. House music was built on this 'apple IIe' looking box, and rightfully so. As far as the problem of going out of sync in midi control, that was a problem on only a select few models, and actually was a recall (it's a little late now, of course!). I won't give mine up for anything, so don't ask! www.geocities.com/sunsetstrip/club/6940

The real deal on this unit is the superkinetic snare drum (with Roland's great Snappiness control!) Techno would not be techno without the snare drum rolls to signal a breakdown . . .

It's mine mine all mine! I got mine by mistake more than eight years ago from a beatnik who "couldn't get it to sound like a real drum". I also wanted a real drum.

Of course now that I'm into dance music I couldn't give a monkey's for a real drum. This box puts the feet on the floor better than anything in good God's creation. Yeah yeah the kick is great we know but what about that handclap. Wow!

Ross Wolinsky a part time user from Chicago US writes:
sigh... what can i say? This is THE drum machine... although the sounds can get old and are limited in their capabilities in comparison to using sampled drums... when you buy an original 909 you're buying STATUS, as well as a kickass drum machine... anyway, as soon as the sounds get boring, put the individual outs through a Mackie or other good mixer with EQ's on each channel and EQ the SHIT out of 'em... you'd be suprised what you can get out of this killer box... the sequencer is incredible for live drum sequencing and anything else you could possibly want out of it... this is THE SHIT! BUY IT!

Richie L. a professional user from USA writes:
This machine has been mainstay, drum machine for many years. By utilizing the individual outs, the accent key and yuning knobs along with judicious eq on my mixer, I find that I end up with fat punchy delicious dance grooves evrytime. When ever I do a show or live PA , it never fails to get toes tapping and feet moving On top of that, it seems to go well with analog synth sounds kind of like catchup and frenc-fries. Check out my web page (just type Richie L.} and you can hear real audio clips of it in action in my tunes
