Phil Mayor a professional user from UK writes:
Beautiful sounding synth..mix the stings with the human voice tones..and you have one of the best pad sounds you've ever heard and I've heard a lot of vintage synths..the vocoder is great too mix that in with the vocoder hold switch and it sounds absolutely huge... Lets blow a few myths..the RS-505 Strings have no relation circuit wise and sound nothing like VP-330 strings. Nothing sounds like VP-330 strings..the are unique and not at all like a Solina in tonal colour. There is no difference between the two versions sound wise either. One has rocker switches, one has touch switches like the JP8..The slightly earlier one uses different BBD IC's in the ensemble circuit. I hear no discernable difference. It's funny how the older/original version of something always sounds warmer isnt it? So lets stop this MK1/2 nonsense.

I have the warmer sounding MK1. I love using the vocorder with pitch bend. Changing vowel sounds and volume as I pitch bend is like painting with a liquid choir. Fabulous improvisational instrument. Laurie Anderson only scratched the surface.

Michael McCann a professional user from USA writes:
By far the best overall vocoder. I have a Korg VC-10, Korg MS2000, Electrix Warp Factory and PAiA Vocoder. None of these sound close to the VP-330 plus. Just has that nasty/balls analog sound that I haven’t found in any other vocoder. I’m just glad I found one in my area.

The Malpaso Man a professional user from El Vocoder writes:
I just got a VP330 mk2, although I don't know if there is any difference between the Mk1 or 2, but what is with this retriggering of notes, this spoils it, and the attack times are not constant or smooth either.

But... man!! those strings with the ensemble button on... nice!! really superb, but better through a smallstone phaser IMHO. The choirs are nice too, but not loud enough for my taste.

Can any internal pot tweaks be done to this, and what pots should i tweak inside? Suggestions welcome....

Big Bad Bill a part-time user writes:
VP33o MKI has a distant and surreal quality not unlike a mellotron. I can't believe this thing is not all over every latest indie pop album.
