actually this thing has some SERIOUS bugs. I have had one since day one and I can tell you the main problem. THE PROCESSOR IS TOO SLOW AND WILL HANG. When you have just one sample that is fine, but when you use 2 or more you will have some weird things happen. For one, if you change a knob setting , sometimes it will not take affect until about 30 seconds after you twist it. Sometimes you will make the settings and check the parameters to see if you really changed it , it will say you did , but the actual sound does not change. This is indeed a problem with the slow processor.

So it's not so much a problem with crashing , but rather just not working correctly. These little things can drive you crazy and may distract you away from your studio time.

Just got mine used for $650 with software. I cant hardly believe how wrong the "dissers" are on this one. I guess I should thank them tho for bringing the price down dramatically. :-)) Simply put ---I am blown away by this variphrase technology. Incredible!! WOW What a cool device this VP9000 IS!! Been playing with it for hours with absolutely NO problems. The people dissing this have probably not even tested it in the store. Its really too funny since this is a breakthrough piece of gear. I wont be selling it anytime soon. peace.

This machine is an experimentors dream!!! --and a programmers nightmare unless you use the special software from Roland. (Its only $99 bucks for those of you who bought it used and FREE if you bought one new. Pretty cool.) VP-9000 is a complex sampler, but very much worth playing with. I love the flexibility! Anyway Im not a programmer. I just jam with this puppy and I can tell you it does stuff no other machine will do; a lot of stuff in fact. And my studio is fully equiped with great sampling devices. This one stands out as totally unique!
