The roland xp60 was my first workstation, although not my last. During the past 6 years I've went through several; the Korg Trinity, Karma, Yamaha Motif, even an offbrand station that was returned in three days. I still use them in certain appications. But my xp60 is my basic track and session starter. It alone with a good mix, and some sound tweaking is sometimes all that is needed for a marketable project; not to mention a satisfied client. Although the xp60 has excellent percussive sounds, it's kickdrum, 808, and snares require extensive tweaking and leave a lot to be desired if used in rap and hiphop applications. However the xp60 is my go to bread and butter workstation for jazz and rnb projects. I still use it now along with the Fantom X6; together they make a formidable team. I rarely have to go beyond their capabilities.

Centerpiece of my studio. Great sounds (get the expansions), excellent key action, solid build. Only draw-back is the programming learning curve. I think the manual hurts as much as it helps. Besides that, you can't go wrong with this one. It can do everything you need as a workstation.

I have worked with all types of boards in the past, korg trinity, Korg O1W, Ensonic ZR76, and MR61,ASR10 and a few others, but when I purchased the Roland XP60, I stop there. This is truly in my opinion, one of the best workstations ever created. I can do so much with this board that other producers and artist I come in contact with ask what major studio did I record in and I say one keyboard, Roland XP60. When you purchase the exspanion cards for the XP30, 50, 60, 80 series, you make this board a monster! I am very happy I bought this board. I read an article that the Neptunes (Pharell and Hugh) can't live without it. Roland is truly the king of keboards to me. The next purchase is certainly the Roland Phantom line.

Well four years back i wrote that i love my Xp 60 now i say i actually married it then

A great board still i use it for all my compositions and music creation and it was this machine that brought us ARYANS Enterainment Mumbai Band in the national level recognition for our famous DHAMAAL Mumbai cd. and also my fellow keyboardist makes ringtones officially from the Xp60 for Sagem and other mobiles.

All i mean to say is that this board with expansion cards will put any Amateur musician to pro level and it is a great synth for on and off stage
