Since I produce mostly trance stuff, I've had to buy some additional expansion cards to get the waveforms I wanted to build sounds from. The stock on-board patches and waveforms are decent, and are intended for general use (classical, pop, etc.).

There are some 808 and 909 waveforms on-board, but not a complete or fully usable set. I've had to purchase the Techno board to compensate for this.

Likewise, for raw vintage synth waveforms (JP-6, JP-8, Oberheim) I purchased the Vintage Synth card. So far, this looks like the best $200 I've spent on musical gear.

The onboard sequencer is nice. It has a step recording facility to quickly and easily lay down drum beats and bass lines. It also has a standard time-based sequencer with looping capabilities as well.

The arpeggiator is very usable for techno/trance as well. It has quite a few template configs that you can tweak.

All in all, I would give it a 4/5 based on its expandability and ease of use.

..... What more do u want as a musician ....Its a complete workstation ... and if u r not satisfied with the sounds create them in it

I wish it had a sampler too like the triton and the yamaha motif
