Intro: Good dedicated synth.
Quality: Semi high end parts.
Sound: Good sounding samples tones. Well made patches. Good EFX. Good responsivness.
Features: Good features for a dedicated 1 unit synth.
Power: This is not a sampler or a VAST synth. Good set of parameters for a small sytnh under $1000.
Support: I am not sure if America has support. I have no idea. I just know that they never respond to email.
Expandability: Pretty good for a small synth without sample RAM.
Value: Excellent value !!! Good enough for most uses.
Bad things:
If only this thing had about 64 megs of sample RAM I would love it or the ability to accept a CF, smart media or SD card.
It would be nice if polyphony was 128. A Roland synth can easily eat up 64 voices. For the serious user having 2 or 3 synths is not a bad idea. it would cost about $2100.
The expansion modules are expensive ! About $300 for a module.
I dont recommend configuring the unit via without a software. The interface is small and the quality of the screen isnt great.
The sounds on the JV-5050 is a whopping 64 megs, but its spread out to many types of sounds, hence a good general sound library but not really great for any one group.
