Very good sounds. Invaluable in use with an external sequencer. Buy it.

Wes Hopkins a part time user from usa writes:
The G-800 sounds great when you find or create the right style. But the on board styles are too limited. The manuals are poorly written in that too many assumptions are made that the user understands the terminology. Quotes such as "It goes without say" are arrogant. I believe more interest would be generated if the technical info was better. Rolland should also have downloadable styles available to their customers. I think this poject may have gotten away from them judging by the poor fashion in which the manuals were written.

Leher Orchestrations a part time user from USA writes:
It'll give any arranger keyboard a run for its money - the patches are superior to any of the PSR series or the new ones from Korg. A couple of serious drawbacks: 1) Cannot load more than 8 user styles at a time, and loading is SLOW. 2) Cannot MIX drum sounds from different kits - drives me NUTS. The drum kits are sort of generic, and I don't find them very useful for any serious work. You can get comfortable with the style editor pretty quickly and it's nicely laid out. The OS still has a few bugs and will occasionally hang. What else? Oh, I HATE the fact that there is no TRANSPOSE lock button - what the $#%#@$% was Roland thinking of? Roland's technical support is horrible as well, so be prepared for that - no 800 number in the US, no e-mail address, and long, long hold times on the phone. Let's see if the G-1000 is any better... Cheers, Vallury Prabhakar leher@oeonline.com PS: If you want to see what I've done with the G-800, visit my band's home page at www.oeonline.com/~leher/ and click on the Sound-bytes section (you will need RealAudio V5 to listen to the streaming files). 99% of this work has been done using the G-800 synth.
