First the mid implementation SUCKS. Second, lets see, the sounds SUCK. There were maybe 5-10 useful sounds in the whole box, and 1 of the techno kits was pretty cool. THE 808 kits SUCKED, what 808 RS did they sample??? Sounds nothing like my 808. The filter SUCKS.

The MC-303 was a GREAT IDEA that was POORLY carried out. I At first I was impressed by it, then I realized just how limited and unintelligently, unintuitively(MIDI), that it was made. Besides that, the sound quality was horrible, no midrange punch, treble was thin and too bright at the extreme top end, and the bass was pure mud over boosted @ 50 hz...

Oh yeah, it's me again.... I think I should sample some spoons with my Prophet just so I can make some sounds better than what the MC-303 has. It shouldn't be that difficult. I'd rather listen to an album of spoons than an album made with the MC-303 anyways.

Jimmy: I attemped to use mine for some sequencing for some industrial songs, but the sequencer didn't even run in midi, but it's own form, so it was more than totally useless because I couldn't upload any songs I wrote to it and it was too difficult to write anything useful on the machine anyways.

I also submitted again, so hopefully my reviews will bring down the average.. it's pitiful that ppl think this thing is decent for even hobbyist music.

I've had my MC-303 since November and I thankfully sold it last week, and I'm trading it in for a Prophet 2002. The MC-303 sounded great to start, but became more and more limiting and frustrating to use with every subsequent session I attempted to use it with. The sounds are garbage, aside from the 909 and the techno kits (and maybe one of the basses) and I'm glad I learned my mistake of buying a useless PCM shit "synth" on this instead of pissing away whatever amount of cash on the mc-505. Please, do yourself a favor and do NOT buy one.... if you're looking for drums, SAVE up for a sampler... it's worth the cost. Or even buy a shitty sampler, those work almost as well. If you're looking for basses, you can buy a used analog synth, such as an alpha juno one for MUCH less or you can save a little cash and buy something close to a hundred times better. If you're looking for anything else, why the hell are you even considering the MC-303? Leads are GARBAGE on this shitbox, they have no detune and they just sound like one oscillator that's been filtered very cheaply.

I have an SY-35 and it's amazing compared to the Mc-303 and WOW, it costs $100 bucks less! The sy's drums are shit, yeah, but the pads more than make up for it.

Anyways, just DON'T buy it... I did, and I regret it.

This is a good box that looks and sounds great.

My only critcism is that as a midi sound module you can't use the machine to its full potential (unless you have a pretty sophisticated sequencer that lets you program system exclusive messages easily.)

In my midi set-up it just tends to sit there running at 10%, that's why I'm selling it..any offers?? Email me if interested in buying this little silver future classic.
