its a great sound canvas ever since i played thesc55 years b4.its sc88 the better one than the normal sc55.the sound is good especially the synth bass, the percussions.its got depth.and there's sound variation button which let u select 4 different timbres from one kind of sound/preset,its great to has more possibilities on such sound canvas pc-oriented module.i love that acid bass from the synth bass variation and techno kicks from the 909 kits variation, and the bongo, conga, clave at the perc variations.they're all really cool. ans someone said its even got some jv1080 engine inside, but imo,i think its better than the jv1080 on some aspects,of course, besides the easy to use panel and longer lcd on 1080. i bought mine for $150 in 96.

I have the SC-88PRO. It is absolutely an awesome unit. The voices are more than realistic. They just stick right out at you like an original would. I would recomment dhis unit to anyone who wanted to spend the extra money to pick up a top-notch unit.

Now those sounds I like! We have a couple of SC-88 Pro at my college (Malmo College of Music, Sweden), and MAAAN do they sound cool... Just check out the TR-707 Drum Set, the Modular Bass, the Wah Clavinet... yup, soon you'll be creating the best 1970s funk since the 1970s. I gotta have this one!
