I think this drum machine is good, if you are looking for real 80s sounds, but you dont have enough money for a linn drum or something more expensive. I vanted to buy a tr 707, and then I found the 505 for 45 euros, so I bought it cause the sounds are almost the same /the 505 has even a better kick/...there are no individual outputs:( And the memory isnt so big, but using it with a sequencer solves the problem / I couldnt figure out how to control the levels, when Im using it through midi, everything is equally loud, ??????????/ Videosex, Denis and Denis, Vince Clarke, Format A3.....

The 505 is one of the easiest drum machines I´ve ever had. I´ve used it in all songs since I have her. Very cool for electro-style.

Borrowed this off a friend, as I've been surprised by how cool this toy is. Its real user friendly, as it really is a fantastic little midi device with an unashamed old school timing. I use this as a midi device hooked into NI battery, and though its no mpc pad, using it as a portable (it runs off batteries!) sequencer/drum machine is great (works well with my laptop). The internal sounds are real 80s b-boy beat boxpure Davie-D breaks, though Im experiencing problems with noise and latency when tapping in beats. Generally a winner if you can find it cheap, as the sounds are very usable if your into old school electro!

This has to be by far the worst drum machine i have ever heard. Tried it out in the shop and nearly cried, it was SO lame sounding. This has to get 1st place in the worst drum machines of all time. The preset roland CR-1000 and yamaha drum machines also blow. The Roland Tr-707 wasn't one of the high points either. The later Roland R5/R8 and R70 "human rhythm composers" beat this lot by miles. The R-5 is very cheap second hand buy, and features multiple outputs. It isnt expandable like thr R8 and has a smaller LCD screen, hence the MUCH LOWER price. If your strapped for cash, but one of thos instead, you won't be sorry. And never ever buy a Yamaha drum machine. It'll only end in tears.
