I LOVE MY LITTLE 505. The snare drum is perfect for that electro-80's sound. But the hihats are too metallic for techno. I think this little box is just incredibly fun to play with, but using the original sounds in any music is going to get you laughed at. Does ANYONE know what that START-STOP(DP-2) jack on the back is for? Oh, and listen to INSANITY LURKS NEARBY on Front Line Assembly's "The Initial Command" album - that's a 505, isn't it? (Also suspect "Nine Times" uses the 505 as well)... This thing is not hard to program. I learned how (and I've never used any musical equipment before) in a matter of two hours.

wow! i love these cheap machine. I connect it with my sp-202 and then i have 2 sample banks at once with the 16 pads instead of the 8 of the sp-202.But the problem is only samples which are triggered at once are working.(I love to press a few times a sample ) Its funny that the stepsequencer is shown on the lcd.It has cool simple drum and percussion sounds.Try a few of the built-in latin patterns and turn the tempo wheel in real time.

This is quite possibly the best drummer our band has ever had! He always shows up, he can keep a beat and even remember about 5 or 6 songs. He takes the abuse of being dropped on tiel (oops) and always works fine. I like this guy alot.
