Fantastic. Sonicaly inferior to most GM modules, but nothing comes close for
shear ease of programing. Nothing beats bashing away at those pads.... You can also link it up to lots of other gear by virtue of it's many snyc/midi
in's and out's. One of my first buys and I'll still not part with mine!

This drum machine is historical if only because it is THE original Prince drum machine. The sound that sticks out in my mind more than any is that wild knocking sound on "When Doves Cry" and still appears on his current recordings.

I was recently looking into buying one of these (as I found one for $75 U.S.). In my research I discovered info from several sources that conflicts with the current review. The review is incorrect in saying that the Sequential Drumtracks is "analog". Actually it's 8bit digital samples. The samples are stored on chips that can be replaced with different 8bit samples available from Wine Country Productions.
That is not to say that this makes it a bad drum machine. Many people still swear by it. I, on the other hand, decided not to shell out the $75 as you can get a reliable copy of the 8bit samples on the net... (... since, unlike analog, you can get almost an exact match sampling a digital sample).
