I'm fairly new to VS - or I should say it to me. I'm quite impressed with richness of the digital waves in the overall sonic product of this machine. (I was thinking like my old Ensoniq SQ-80 which used digital waveforms - HA! No comparison).

I'd withheld an early review here - but felt it necessary to comment on it's apparent quality, capability and vision. Especially at this time, since the comments of the selfish pinhead "aardvark," who in his state of oblivion, needlessly marred the what otherwise would seem a deservedly perfect reputation of the VS on this site! He didn't have a comment on the synth it self - how unfortunate!

Although my rating may be early, I'll rate it a 5 regardless. Just to offset some of the effect of his debauchery and sniveling!!!

The Prophet VS is arguably the greatest synth ever made. Awesome, People hark on about the Prophet 5 or Roland Jupiter 8. The Prohet VS, is more stunning sonicaly than either.

I've been having a clear out of old synths and misc. gear from the studio. I took the time to re-acquaint myself with the Prophet VS. I've had it from new and haven't used it for several years. ( Used it for pads and basses mostly. ) It is truely great. I've sold on a Yamaha CS80 and 70, a memorymoog and Kurtzweil 2500. This synth is nolonger for sale. It is unique, as simple as that. Through a good effects unit the sounds are just incredible. It pales the aforementioned keyboards into insignificance. The pads are beautiful. The leads are sharp and thundering. The sound effects are moog modular and can be created instantly with the randon patch feature(hold enter and push prog 2.) The filter is exactly like that on the Prophet 5. The stereo chorus produces an hypnotic swirling effect. Loads of editting features and that joy stick! The range of sounds are huge. From T8 beauty to digital vector/modular madness. If you need to own one synth let it be this one. I can't think of one keyboard in over 25yrs of playing which has impressed me more. I've noticed that they are becomming quite expensive..£1200+. I think that the VS has been rediscovered. So, a price increase is only to be expected. Not many about, so if you want one best to start looking fast!

Gorgeous or what? Tell me, is this the best synth ever! Miles nicer to play and listen to than my partner's minimoog and Triton. One pad sound in particular is just beautiful. I couldn't get it out of my mind. Prog no. 97..don't know if it's a preset! I can listen to it for hours, especially when running a harmonising arpeggio on my Jupiter 6. God, I need to get out more!
