I know its been a while, but I feel I have to comment on the contribution made by Mr. Glen Stegner a while back. First of all, knowledge of who produced what and when doesn't make your comment more valid than others: the Korg Z1 is generic plasticy sounding crap compared to the very distinctive Prophet VS. This Prophet houses the lushest and most flexible chorus ever to be implemented on a synthesizer, adding to an outstanding filtersection, and great programmability. There's no competition.
As for the comparison to the Wavestation, they're both classics. However, the latter is all digital and is now to be found as a plug-in - made by Korg themselves - which is highly effective as far as its ability to recreate the character of the original goes. If ever they'll be able to remodel all of the old classic polys, the VS will be the hardest of all considering the strange components this Prophet is composed of. Most reviewers here agree - this synth is in a league of its own. Testifying to its various 'faults', etc, is ludicrous; it produces a sound that cannot be found anywhere else in Gods created universe. While the OBXa and Elka Synthex needs mentioning, the prophet VS reigns supreme next to the Roland J8/MKS-80 as the all time best poly.
