Why is everybody always saying… it's not the real moog sound, it's not this not that, you don't always have to compare to the "real moog"… sometime a "real moog" just doesn't fit at all for your type of music… "and some cheap other moog thing" does… Don't get so hyped on names… it seems like everyone goes for a name these days… you like the sound use it… even if it's not that "moogsound"… music artists should now better!!!!!

industrial demon a part-time user from u s a writes:
minimoog is crap???? lol..that is really silly and stupid post..tell me why does every new va synth try somehow or another to copy the minis sounds/filter..the minimoog sound will never die.so dont be a head and diss the mini. also the se-1 is a CLONE and not a minimoog at all.period.do not make dumb posts about an se-1 and midimoog are similar-no way!!!.take apart your se-1 and see if there are any original minimoog osc boards or original filter boards.not at all!!. the midimoog IS A MINIMOOG.it just has the keyboard and wood case pitched, midi installed, racked nicely and many improvements. back(in the day)minimoogs were hotrodded to have these "extras" (cv,midi, extra lfo, etc). studio electronics was very smart to rack the minis and perform all the mods in one great package.the early(old) versions were called midimoogs, the newer versions were midiminis.the midiminis lacked the original moog boards and custom boards were made by studio electronics. the midimoog is much more sought after and usually has a price tag of over $2000.ive seen some sell at over #3000-wow!! but its worth every penny if you love moogs - these are very rare i remind you.i have a minimoog,se-1 and a midimoog.they all sound excellent.thank studio electronics for racking and hotrodding all the great classics! we love you!

synthfreak a hobbyist user from USA writes:
If I'm not mistaken the SE MidiMoog is just a rack mounted real Moog Minimoog that has had Midi and other nice things added to it. So it will sound almost exactly like the real mini(minus the Minimoog linear glide). The SE-1 and SE-1x are the ones that Studio Electronics developed from the ground up.

To Crimpy. A Voyager is not a Moog Clone, it IS a Moog. It is more Moog than most of the vintage Moogs that Bob had nothing/very little to do with.

I have never played a MidiMini but have played/owned many minis and own a Voyager now. It is all good and deserves at least a 4 for its longevity as a musical instrument.

well all i can say about this peice is that it piss bob moog off big time hell it helped his come back come even faster and i got to give to studio electronic's not bad for a alternetive in the glory days of midi when everybody was suffering from digital and preset heaven in which is still going on but you got to give to the studio folks they did a good job reproducing the moog !!!!
