This is a "power-packed" little synth. It can produce some very beefy bass synth sounds. The only catch is the polyphony. It has very user-friendly programmable parameters and don't forget the sequencer and the arpeggiator. Chorous? No problem, it has chorous. Some noisy sounds and acceptable strings and pads can rise from the mist as well.

The Multi-trak can sound more delicate and organic to my ears than a 106. The velocity sensitive keyboard is extremely expressive. My first synth was a Matrix-6 (hence matrix, not after the movie). The second was a TX7 which I soon traded for a Multi-trak. The Multi-trak sounded magical to me. I could get lost playing delicate sparkly sounds with the velocity sensitivity. I still think it has the best vel action out there. In unison it can sound very harse and in your face. Soundwise its exactly the same as a sixtrak, so check out the reviews for that as well. I really like the Multi-trak. Definitely one of the most if not the most expressive sounding of the lower priced analogs out there.

A nice little 6 poly synth. As people have already mentioned good for interesting sounds, wouldnt be as ideal for melodies as a Juno, and IMO doesnt sound as clear or rich as a Juno. Can be a bit muddy on the low end, clearer on the high end. What this synth does excel in is squelchy 303 type sounds plus it has glide!!, thats I guess due to having analog oscillators, tho you do have to fiddle around a bit to get it. Has some other warm sounds. Havent used the sequencer on it so I cant comment. Not many resources for it on the net as there are for the six-trak its earlier version.

Just picked up my Multi track at a local pawn shop for $80.00 plus an a very old Cd player (he "gave" me 20.00 for it). Anyway, I come from an ASR EPS sampler background and therefore have a relatively limeted knowledge of creating sounds completely from scratch. After about an hour of playing around with the edit paremeters I was able to get some VERY interesting sounds. This is probably the best money I have ever spent on a piece of equipment. I am still learning to use it but It is so fun to tweak and I am very impressed buy the contruction. It is actually made of metal. I hate plastic. Also the keyboard has alot better feel than I expected. One thing I love is the SIX outputs. To me that kicks complete ass. The sequencer is quite primitive but gets the job done for basic ideas. You wouldn't want to have to rely on it by any means. I pretty just sample my riffs into sound forge and then sequence the samples in acid. Works for me. The bottom line is that while you won't get ultra realistic sounds but if you want something abstract just tweak and add effects and you will be in love. If you can find one cheap buy it...or don't and I will buy the one you leave behind:) That's my .02.

I'll probably add a more complete review at some later time, but for now I want to say that I haven't been dissapointed with the Multi-Trak. This synth has its own voice and character, and is fun and easy to program. The built-in chorus is noisy and not really useful.
It's a very versatile machine -- you can get punchy basses, evolving pads, mallot-type sounds, and some FX.
Excellent value for the sound.
