I first saw the sci Pro one at the product launch in london Olympia, a week later i was the owner of a machine and this is long long time ago. The Pro one i bought is still working brilliant. Amazing sounds you never run out new sounds. It's an evolutionary sound building giant. I have owned Moog, Korg, Roland, Arp, Octave,EDP to name some names and far out infront is the Pro one.

The SCI Pro One is and has been my favourite synth for at least a decade now. Personally, I prefer it to a minimoog even. Not to mention that it's a fraction of the price. The construction is a little flimsy, but don't jump on it and it'll be fine. I will agree that actual playing of the keys is a little frustrating, but the sequencer and arpeggiator are perfect for my needs. It also is a great filter for external synths. Try a TB-303 through the pro one filter bank, and you'll be tearin' up the place. For the type of music I produce, it's an asset to my studio. Personally, I love raw, raunchy pure analog fatness, and that's what the pro one is all about. It gets a 5/5 from me.

Mike the Mender a professional user from UK writes:
A good little synth...a bit off a prophet 5, so it must be good. You can have fantastic fun playing about with one of these. Definitely one to keep. Good value amongst other classic monosynths. The prices have stayed static for some while now. One swear word appears to have recently cropped up...ebay. Never buy a classic synth off ebay. It is the graveyard of synth junk. people selling stuff that they couldn't sell anywhere else. Smug cut and paste descriptions and pleading ignorence means crap! Buy off a dealer or off a reputable site where you can test your purchase out. I recently had one of these in for fixing. I took one look at it and told the guy it was an ebay tuck-up. He asked me how I knew and I told him that he would have never bought it if he had seen it first. Typically, screws are missing, wood is wretched, keyboards unplayable and odd functions not working...stuff you could pass off as ignorence. Pro 1 keyboards started off alright. Age and poor maintenance are to blame.

All I can say is listen to Don't Go by Yazoo and you'll know what this synth is capable of. The whole track was written using a Pro One and so was "Only You" by the same band. I have wanted one of these synths for about 25 years... and finally managed to buy one from ebay recently...I havent played with it properly yet as am having my studio rebuilt but I cant wait to get some fat sounds out of it.
