I have one of the originals, from back in 1973, so later models are much improved on this one. Nonetheless, I would not swap it for any of the current keyboard synths. It's design philosophy is not standard for modulars either, so you aren't tied to the tired old cliche sounds. Very versatile, and inovative. While I'd rate the synth in my posession as 4 out of 5, later units deserve the full 5 out of 5.

Serge owner for two years. Can't imagine life without Serge now. If you can hear it in your mind, and you are patient with the instrument, then you can make that sound happen. Awesome sound design tool. Laboratory quality all the way. Kudos Rex and STS.

Serge synths are one of the BEST analog synthesizers ever made.
Anywhere.
And they are the only one being manufactured NEW, today (1-98). If you want COMPLEX analog synthesizer sounds,
And you are considering buying an analog synth, buy a Serge. If you want 'dweep' tones for that 'Muscrat Love' solo,
get an old ARP, Moog or Oberheim or use a sample of one.
