kenneth a professional user from NL writes:
one mean bass machine... i won this synth on ebay for 260 euro's. it was in verry bad shape when it arrived, turns out the thing came out a fire damage sale. after an hour cleaning an polishing the poor thing was as new.

when i hooked it up i was blown away!! the thing is so simple but verry effective. can't stop playing with it. this is a must have for any one looking for FAT bass. buy this when you have the chance, you will not be disappointed for sure....

levi a hobbyist user from Dubai writes:
Just had to read up on this SH101. Thanks for the great reviews!! You see, I was in a place call Sharja today, next to Dubai in the Middle East. There I came accross some electronic stalls and found an emaculate SH-101 for 70 Dirhams which equals to 10 pounds sterlin! It's in my car at the moment, can't wait to hook it up!

Al a part-time user from London, UK writes:
I had two grey ones and they really were the business. I knew that a lot of people swore by them so I bought one new (1986 or so) and another about five years later from a mate.

The bass end is great: you've a fair amount of actual substance and definition. The filter oscillates on its own so you can get some pretty extreme sounds. Don't expect to get some naughty leadline sounds but it is a versatile chappie.

The sequencer is step-time only and 100 events only in size so plan those sequences well! It can be run from the trigger or gate out of a TR606, 808, 707, 909 etc. There's also CV and gate ins and outs so you can write sequences on the SH and then use it to play the sound of another synth. I did this a fair bit with my Moog Rogue. The arpeggiator is cool too.

Professional users: 808 State had four of them! Vince Clarke (on 'Nobody's Diary' and some early Erasure stuff), the debut Electronic album and Dave Ball of Soft Cell/The Grid.

All in all, a real winner. If you see one for a reasonable amount used and it's in good condition (mod grip is nice but not really essential), go for it. You will not be disappointed.

SYNTEX77 a professional user from Italy writes:
Very fat monosynth, can blow your speaker, it's filter is dangerous, have a powerful resonance. The only problem of this monosynth is the look... Is similar at one toys. The best, can run with battery, have a optional guitar strap, you can go around with this, with headphones, for a cool monophonic trip! The sound is very acid, but not fat and vintage as the sh09 or sh5 / sh7.
