Paid $250US with grip, grey, mint cond. I have to say, it's a nice synth to have around and I loved being able to take it camping but it doesn't really inspire me. The bass is fat but I prefer my MicroMoog, and the sliders are a little too jumpy for smoove moves.

Of course this is an acid synth and everybody wants the Roland sound in their kit so if you have to do it this is a cheap and reliable machine. I wouldn't hesitate to tour with it, but then I would sound just like the other acts on the bill, so I'll move on.

jeff a part-timer user from eastern U.S. writes:
This was the second synth I ever bought...and I gotta admit, when I first looked at it I was a bit apprehensive about it...I mean, there just seemed to be a million sliders and knobs. I had no manual either, and I still don't...but from my experience, if you take the time to figure the thing out, you will be rewarded with all kinds of bleeps and blorgs that I've never been able to reproduce on any other synth. The bass is absolutely unreal...and it's perfect for psychedelic mindblowing goa trance. It feels sometimes like the thing is gonna rip apart at the seams cause of the intensity of noise and the desperate-sounding growls and noises this thing will produce. As for a SH-09 being better...I tend to disagree, although the audio input jack on a SH-09 is pretty nifty, the sounds on a SH-101 are more "tweakable". If you've never had a synth before, don't pick it up and expect to have instant Etnica or X-dream flowing out of it...it takes some time. But that's my opinion...maybe you are some kind of electronic Beethoven and you'll pick it up faster than I did. Peace

Pharkle a part-timer user from US writes:
Goddam, this synth is so great, i picked mine up in Deutschland for DM790 which is about $450 US it is so worth it if you can find a great deal like that. If anyone is looking for one, the shop i bought it from has another, MINT condition with the guitar style neck modulator which is so cool. (Use it like a guitar) this one's a bit more i think roughly DM1300 or $700 U.S This synth is so xiom tho..... Put that gadget in random mode -pharkle
