This thing is the fattest, meanest monophonic synth on the planet. I seem to have an early version, which occasionally chokes on an overflow of midi messages (I make extensive use of midi-controllers). I hope there's a solution to this.. but even if there isn't.. this is a true MONSTER!

After ripping myself away from the ATC-1 for food and to write this. I have to say:

The ATC-1 is incredible.

The bass sounds with the mini-cartridge are deep and gurgling. It can be downright aggressive or peaceful. Very expansive range of sounds!

I've got a Virus and the bass sounds you can make can get pretty deep and thin if you want it to. The ATC-1 has a warmer sound/tone because of its components.

I'm an amateur and had no problems with the ATC-1. It was instant gratification out of the box! I had an easier time building bass sounds on the ATC-1 than on the Virus.

The Virus takes a little bit more time but is very rewarding like the ATC-1.

Get the Virus if you need a synth that is multitimbral, need to build pads and bass sounds. Get the ATC-1 if you need a dedicated bass machine, or if want to add pulsating bass to your music.

Try both synths out, you won't be disappointed.

Michael Godfrey a professional user from us writes:
I got the ATC-1 and the one unit rack bay cartridge filter holder with the four filters.

They are insane.

I thought when I got an SE-1, I'd be repeating myself, but I wasn't.

The SE-1 is straightforward bass synth.

The ATC-1 is very odd. You can really jack up the sounds to the point where it's nuts. Flip on the Oberheim SEM Filter, and it'll clip your amplifier.

It is sonically overwhelming.

Flip on the ARP Filter, and it all gets thin sounding. Flip on the MOOG Filter and it thickens out. Flip on the TB-303 Filter and there you go. You've got the 303 minus the idiotic sequencer.

God, I really love it.

Bruce Percy a part-timer user from Scotland writes:
Hi,

I read the pages here on Sonicstate, and was qurious if this machine was any better than say a Pro One for example. Well, after going through several analogue monos, i've finally found one which really lives up to the classy sound or yesteryear that i've been looking for. The ATC is fantastic. It's very rich, silky smooth (great for Moog solos) and is very well specified in the MIDI area too. Highly recommended, and well worth every penny.

Simply awesome. awesome sound awesome low-end Huge patch memory Great MIDI implementation ugly-looking but its sounds kicks ass like no other. Listen to it (him?) you'll see what I mean. Only one knob but at least it's a high-quality one which is a pleasure to use. A very high breed of synth, indeed. Furthermore, the beast is alive.
