It makes you wonder how some little guy from italy 20 years ago, design such a state of the art equipment that's still no1 in many studios around the world and how a bunge of multinational mega-monster in$$$trument manufactures(akai, roland, yamaha, korg...) TODAY, design such pieces of faliure,in so many models which still can't offer a desent sound or even manual and they will be replaced by "newer versions" as soon as they hit the market.

ok, this synth is a dream, in my opinion it kicks the jupiter 8's ass, yes i own a jupiter 8 but now that i have the synthex im thinking about selling it. it has an incredible warmth to it but it can be very detailed if you want it to. best strings ever, best pads, no aftertouch unfortunately but 'neither does the jupiter 8. i assume you're familiar with the specs, the sequencer is great fun, the filters are sweet, resonance goes into self-oscillation etc..etc my advise ? if you can buy one you wont regret it period. some very vangelesque sounds in there, and it seems jmj uses one too.

this is the best analog synth i ever heard or used. Nothing comes close to the warmth of sound of this. DCO have the warmth of analog but none of the out of tune problems a lot of vintage synths have.

What a synth! To begin with: it looks beautiful. Nice lay-out, wooden case, lovely keyboardresponse, quality knobs and switches... But that's not it: when you plug it in and play your first notes, you want to marry her! What a beast. It leaves all Oberheims and Prophets way behind (and I can tell, because I owned them...). And it can even stand up against the wonderful MemoryMoog, and it never needs to be tuned! The warmest strings, punchiest brasses and brightest synthsounds I ever heard. This is one of the top poly-synths ever built.

Sold it years ago (for about $700, paid $350) 'cause I needed the cash. I'm probably going to hell for being stupid, because this is, without doubt, one of the best analog synths ever. For strings, show me ANY other synthesizer, including the Obie's or Prophet's or whatever to touch this - you'll fail. You'll need external effects to match the Synthex, for its chorus is SO fat and warm.

The oscillators being digital (which they are), there's no tuning problems whatsoever; can't say that about a Prophet, Memorymoog or OB, can you? Its filters, however, are analog and muli-mode; probably some of the best analog filters ever. If you don't agree, it's quite possible you've never heard one of these neglected beasts. I managed some analog choirs out of this which sounded like a sample from heaven (angels, ya know?). Really, for filling out a track with euphoria, there's no other.

The 4-track step sequencer and split/layer capabilities were years ahead of anything else. It's control-panel is roomy and high-quality, everything about this synth screams quality. If you find one with MIDI for less than $1500, you've got a bargain.

Well, I'll go back to hitting myself over the head and crying.
