Bought mines new around 1987. Couldn't afford a DX7 but I'm glad I got th TX. Lets face it 'LATELY BASS' is the kicker sound. Doesn't matter what mix you use it in, it works! I love it. Crap to program without an editor, I hate menu driven units with 2 buttons to program everything. Love the multi timbral functions especially 'alternate' and can get some interesting combinations. Powerful as a lead synth (stacking / detuning the timbres in unison). Sonically it's excellent and must rank as one of the best FM modules produced thanks to the extra 4 op algorhythms. Incredibly powerful music tool in the right hands. I don't think its worth selling not for the prices offered. I've got a Casio CZ1 (awesome) and both units complement each other and give a crisp, sharp digital edge when used with my analogues. FM v's PD? No contest, both are winners...

I have one, and I love it! It was suggested to me by a good friend who was a MIDI tech at the time for Babyface. It's all over his hits of the last ten years. He always has two units one tuned +5, and one tuned-5 for that "fat" R&B bass sound he's famous for.

It's very cheap, it's built like a tank, it sounds like 12 bits and does Bass better than anything around for the money. I got mine for the equivalent of $90.

I use a computer based editor with this thing but the front panel's not that bad. The only other FM source I can compare it with is the NI FM7, which is ver lush and smooth. This is grit and sandpaper. The machine subsonics very nicely and has a tremulous presence the FM7 doesn't do.

For hard bass this puppy is incredible value for money.

obviously this isn't a top flight piece of gear (least not any more), is from around 87 and you can get one for under 100 bucks. but...goddamn do I love it. Some of the presets kick some ass, most suck, but that doesn't matter anyway. This thing is easy to program, there may be a shitload of variables to edit, but they are all easy to get to. Download some patches off the internet for startes, awesome ballsy stuff. This thing is fucking fantastic! By itself it is great for very harsh bass and synth sounds, and decent for bads and strings. I LOVE the punchy synth leads though...that convinced me right there, then I daisy chained it with my Waldorf Pulse analog synth, and I was blown away. Those layer perfectly to create the biggest ballsiest sound I have ever heard. delicious.
