I love this one! So versatile! I use it for analog:ish drums and I even managed to make a decent minimoog-simulation. The interface sucks, but it pretty easy to program anyway.

I guess I paid too much for this - $150 - judging by what everyone else paid, but part of those monies was a Korg Poly-800. The TX81z makes me want to renounce analogue - it can't even approach the harshness of the fm synthesis. I can't stop creating patches; I don't do my homework, I just fuck around with this thing. Run arpeggios through it, keep it tight, all night, all right.

Jacob Wedin a part-timer user from Sweden writes:
Good FM-synth. VERY good for the price it sells for. Killer basses, great organs and EPs (as usual with FM). Hard to program (of course...it IS a Yamaha FM synth, after all) - try to find a software editor. Could use a few more outputs (it only has two) and more patch store locations (it has only got 32). Presets are mostly crap, and You get 4 ROM banks of them (32 in each). I had one, but sold it some time ago. I really regret that now...:-( I'll try to get another, if I can find one for a reasonable price. Everyone should own at least one FM-module.
