I like this module. It has really good acoustic patches build in. But we all know the real reason fou buying it, don't we? Cool filters that let you make really out-there patches. I love this thing. I am now looking for a Morpheus because it has a different sound set with more "synthy" waveforms to start with.
The UP has 16mb rom from the Proteus 1,2,3 plus the Stereo piano from the "Performance" module. I really love the piano... it's the best one out of my four synthesizers.
You can pick one up used for around $400-$500... but the expansion ROM cards are hard to come by. No big loss, as they don't contain new waveforms, just more presets.
If I had to choose between a Morpheus and the UP, I'd take the Morpheus... simply because the accousic patches can all be had on other units (the new Proteus 2000 for instance). This synth engine is best at making good new age/ambient spacy sounds. But having really nice cellos, pianos and woodwinds doesn't hurt either. Don't forget those really cool World patches... digeridoos, bagpipes and all kinds of ethnic sounds.
Grab one before they go antique!
