this is a very logically designed filtering unit (good idea!) great for wacking the tone out and rebuilding the sonic nature of a sound at its sorce (frequencies - which are the building blocks of sound.) it can be very subtle and very bombastic if you want (thanks for the added overdrive option in the circutry.) it has a very solid, thick, beautiful tone to it, which is apparent when you turn the resonance full on to achive the afore mentioned "pad" sound.. they also give you this great modulation matrix that allows for some very flexable options in the right hands. one thing eye like about waldorf is they hint to some great possibilities, but leave all of the truly great sounds hidden for those who know what they are doing (if you tweek it hard enough, it really becomes difficult to tell what is causing the change in the sound. all you know is that it sounds different in the flesh of its tone, and very cool.) the only complaint eye have would be if the ony could have added another lfo. that would have really made this a filter in a box a ground breaking, truly flexable to the artists means, creative tool. oh well, nobodys perfect... in some ways eye fell its a 3 but it has some very redeeming qualities.
