This is an extraordinary machine. I've had mine for a few months now and am only now starting (starting!) to feel comfortable with it.
I have but two small complaints with the unit. First, the rotary encoders can be a wee be touchy at times. A minor complaint. More seriously, the sysex dumping is goofy in the extreme, and it often takes several tries to get stuff to the MWII as it waits to optimize memory. Once in a while the unit will get confused when you bombard it with a bunch of controllers and momentarily seize.
Now for the good stuff. The sonics of this box are incredible. It is the only machine I have (except for my Rickenbacker bass) that lives up to the hype that surrounds it. I can get almost any sound I can think of from it, and a good many I never thought of! It is truly an experiementer's paradise. You can do weird FMish noises, analog-alikes, and seriously mutated things.
In this world of Grooveboxes and boring PCM playback machines, the Waldorf machines really do stand out as unique. Try the Microwave, you owe it to yourself if you're experimental.
A shame the company's on the ropes, I'd really like to see what they had planned for the future.
4.5/5 stars if I could, but they only let me pick between 4 & 5 so 5 it is.
