The XT is a monster. A wide range of good sounds. Excellent filters, lots of waves, great modulation routing and all those knobs just can't be beat.

I have an XT only track on my website called Sleep Walker. Even XT drums :)

Waldorf give the most responsive user support that I have ever experienced from synth manufacturer. The specific click effect in some sounds only occurs in MONO mode operation, and does not happen when the synth is played in POLY mode. My advise would be to check out the huge number of happy XT users on the net via Waldorf's user list. Bass sounds? No problem - and some of the best you are likely to get anywhere!

Let's be fair to the XT -- it's easy to get rid of the click sound (mentioned in another review). All you have to do is adjust the phase of the oscillators so they start at a zero crossing. By default the phase is random, which is fantastic for pads, but for snappy bass sounds you'll obviously want to set it to something specific. So disregard the complaint about clicks . . . this synth can make fantastic bass sounds, both on the fat resonating filter side of things and on the FM-ish electro side of things. If you seriously dig in to this synth you will be impressed and inspired, no matter what kind of music you do.

Truly an amazing machine. This thing is so deep it will keep you in a trance for hours. I got mine a few weeks ago and have not even gotten around to using it in a song yet, I've been so busy turning knobs! It is a synth tweakers dream with direct access infinite knobs to virtually every important parameter. The sound is hard to describe. The words meaty and gritty come to mind. The filters are killer. You can have 8 arpegs going simultaneously in multi. The onboard effects are good. And you can run an external source through it. I have not experimented with this aspect yet, but have heard great things. If you love programming your own sounds, the XT is must have in my opinion. The OS is also freely upgradable through midi file updates on Waldorf's site. This is very cool. They will be adding additional filters (the filter selection is already great) and additional wavetables. Some say the current 2.14 OS is a little buggy, but I have not encountered any problems yet.

This thing will take you and your music to deep space.

Good lord! Yet another good-sounding Waldorf product. The knobs REALLY help in that you can play around with the sounds till you get something you like and tweak from there... this is an instrument that is very, very deep... you can create anything from analog imitations to strange wurbles... very few instruments excite me like this one...
