I love this synth! It can do so many things. The only sound machine in my studio which consider better is the Kyma, and it is much more expensive. Metasynth is almost as good, but not a performance instrument.

It is not just the sound and the mod-matrix, it is also the arpeggiator, which has to be one of the best. Mixed with algorithms from other synths (AN!X, Nord MicroMod, Kyma, 4XTUltra sampler, etc.) it helps provide some lush, funky, kick-ass grooves.

All this praise despite never being able to get a handle on the step-sequencer. Does anyone know if this works correctly?

wow....i give this a 10 out of 5. best VA machine i have ever heard. i was going to sell it until i upgraded it to OS 3.0. the PPG filters are stunning and warm. it's pure liquid analog....better than the real thing in many cases. of course, i would still like to have my old jupiter 8, oberheim 4 voice, arp 2600, and monimoog back -- but hey, they put me through college! and this machine does 90% of what they did, with stability, versatility, and a digital output!

if you can find one, GET IT.

This is a serious piece of equipment. It's sound is very original, even though the vintage virtuanalog/modmatrix might seem a little bit not-so-original to many. Since I bought my little darling blue Q, I've spent hours and hours learning about the interface and OS, so now I know it inside out. It's just a fantastic piece of hardware. Not to mention beautiful! A small tip: If you've got the money, get the 32-voice upgrade! It's a hell of a lot more fun with twice the number of voices! :)

I own a Waldorf Q and it's awesome!! I have been able to program every sound I have wanted to!! If someone says the Q isn't capable of fat basses and low end basses can't program worth a ..... well you know what I mean!! I can get awesome fat basses out of the Q even with OS 2.16!! And with OS 3.0 it's just a crying shame if you can't program a good fat bass sound!!!!! ;-) It's just an AWESOME SYNTH.... period!!! IT is capable of just about anything you can dream up......I am not going to say it's better then that synth or kills the other synth...... you just have to hear one!! It's completely changed my music.... for the better! I am able to go in areas Of music I couldn't before!

It is definately a professional synth!!! I have heard that some people are a bit scared of all the features on the Q... *LOL* Don't be scared! It's very user friendly!! No.... I don't work for Waldorf, I just think this synth deserves a great deal of respect.... It was hard to get but VERY MUCH worth it!!!! IT'S just AWESOME!!! Do your self a favor and at least try one out.. if you can find one in stock!! *LOL*

Oh Q, I love U true. My first palpable knowing that synth and digital synth music can be more organic than so-called real-time instruments, was with Q. I set it going with multiple arpeggiations and control loops. I let this run for three days, once in awhile making fine adjustments. It felt like some invisible organism had taken up residence in my stoodio. It lay curled in upon itself, a beautiful spiralled feathered serpent breathing music and life.

Oh Q, I love U trew, SQUID
