what more could one say? 24bit DACs. SUPER CRYSTAL CLEAR SOUND. You'll get high-end sounds, unlike XP30 or S30 or N5 etc.. I don't think this board could be a complete acoutic bread and butter sound gear, BUT the acoustic sounds in it are great!! The strings are sooooooooo wonderful it beats the shitz out of Alesis QCard's. Wonderfull synth brass, horns, tines. of course, Mind blowing pads. I play the preset 'Bow Strings' a lot. Definitely a keeper. the performance mode is ahead of its time (and ahead of quite many today's gear.)

the noise a part-time user from london writes:
I've had one for a good few years and it is initially hard to get sounds that surprise you until you start messing with the FX. Then it's capable of rez filter sounds that will blow your buttocks off (at a suitable volume). .

Stick with it learn to love its own sound and this synth will reward your patience.

Don a professional user from USA writes:
I used a Prophet VS when they first came out. It doesn't hold a candle to what the Wavestation can do. Who made the law that resonant filters are mandatory to making a great synth? If it's resonance you want, get a Minimoog or Prophet 5. The VS was just a prototype of what Dave Smith and the Sequential R & D team finally were able to realize with the Wavestation. I'm sure if it's creators, given the time and money Korg gave them to perfect the VS, had intended resonant filters to be a big part of the Wavestation's sound, they would have included them. Lets get off this bandwagon and move on, please. It's old.
