I just managed to nab myself a wavestation A/D today. I woke at four this morning and had a fiddle with the so called perfect software version, and was doubtful of going ahead with the purchase. The software version is lacklustre in my opinion. The piano sounds arent perfect in the rack but they sound nigh on useless in the legacy collection. So I'm really happy with my purchase. The versatility of the device with all its in's and out's makes this a winner. So what if its old digital? Now I just gotta figure how it'll blend with my brand of space country... Cheers A

Had to put down my thoughts on this sizer. It's pretty damn good! The sounds are D.I.G.I.T.A.L. to a tee, but what nice ones they are (I am normally a 100% analog man). They are constantly changing and swirling. No resonant filter but perhaps you wouldn't want that on such a mystical airy digitial synth as this. I noticed KORG is releasing a "perfect" emulation of this for computer. Leave it to those businessmen to ruin it all for us. Thank God I bought the A/D. I can always use it for effects, and not be swindled by these damn companies.

Great machine but you will eventually have to replace the internal battery that backs up your Synth's internal patch memory.

Replacing the battery on the Wavestation AD is quite simple. All you need is a phillips screwdriver and a lithium 1.5 V battery- CR2032. This is also the battery that you need to use in your Wavestation RAM cards.

When you remove the cover, you will see a printed circuit board. The battery is on the RIGHT hand side in a plastic battery holder (you can't miss it).

To remove the battery, you have to slide it to your LEFT hand side (there is a small spring that pushes it to the RIGHT) after which you can lift it up on the RIGHT hand side of the battery and take it out of the battery holder.

Inserting a new CR2032 battery, positive plus side up, is the opposite process. You just slide the battery in to the LEFT after which the spring will push it to the RIGHT and back into place.

The instructions I found on the web had all the rights and lefts mixed up which could cause somebody to apply pressure the wrong way and break the plastic battery holder.

I hope this helps. (I wish every synth had do-it- yourself replacement batteries instead of the soldered in ones).

Never ever under estimate any KORG synth in built in the past 10 years, and the WAVESTATION is no acception! I use my WAVESTATION in harmony with my O1/W ( another Korg Synth ) and create a symphonic blend that rival my more modern boards! Producers keep forgeting that 99.9% of listeners out there couldn't care less what synth, or what year a voice was manufactered in! It's all music to the untrained..but often better ears.. So yes, buy your up to the date modern toys, but take a step back and find yourself a WAVESTATION. Even if it's just for a couple of sounds, take pride in knowing that you are not such a little modern hipster, and that you own a machine with guts, soul, and above all..ability!!!!

well if you want a wavestation don't get any wavestation but the AD, it's the most capable of all of them. especially with XLR in and out on it, makes it ideal for highly professional recording. now if only they put XLR jacks on every synth..
