The A3000 is the best sampler for the money. Period. Awesome FX, Realtime timestretching, scrubbing, resampling, kick ass filters etc.. My only gripe is the OS is kinda weird compared to the EMU/Akai operating systems that I'm used to. Nonetheless you can't get anything better for the money so don't bother trying. BTW, go to comp usa for ram for your A3000. Its that easy.

Paul Bijpost a hobbyist user from Amsterdam-The Netherlands writes:
Got it about a week ago.

After a short OS"learning curve", this box reveals itself as a very creatively designed musical instrument. It is capable of doing almost anything you want.(see other reviews). With anything you want I'm saying that the a3000 is your tool all the way from sampling to editing and ,in the end,to a final mix, all done within the sampler !! It's got loads of "tweaking" on all levels of your project.Fine EQ's/filters/dynamic-processors and multieffects, all configurable any way you like, with plenty of processingpower.

See it as a very good AD-convertor,connecting you to the outside world, followed by a topsampler, followed by an advanced total recall mixingconsole with outboardgear, all in one box...

Ofcourse this is arguable, but not at this pricelevel.

congrats Yamaha !

Hope to see a very good MAC-editor in the future, but I refuse to drop marks for that, FIVE+ OUT OF FIVE

Wah! Finally got her, and have been using her for a week and a half. Talk about power, features, versatility, sound quality, storage capacity and the supreme ease of use. I was cruisin through the v2.0 OS in but a couple hours of browsing. Coupled with a good controller (like a CS1x!) and good sequencer (like a QY70), this completes a great rig. It is enthralling - everything is at my fingertips with this unit. If you're shopping around for a sampler of this price range ($1400) then definitely consider this as a major option. It's perfect for all types of sampling. I won her in an auction with quite a few upgrades, got her for just a bit more than $1100, but if you can find one of these puppies then grab it. But if it's out of your price range, maybe you should save up... you will never replace this unit and is probably the best sampler investment out there today.

Andrew McCormack a part-timer user from USA writes:
I went from an AKAI s2800 to the A3000. WOW, talk about learning another OS. Once I learned this, I have come to the conclusion that the A3000 is the best damn sampler you can buy for the money. Great sound, Intuitive interface, awesome effects, easy ram upgrading. No problems with the SIMM upgrades, but I would reccommend OS 2.0 for all you SCSI users. I got Wavesurgeon which natively supports the A3000......Holy Crap, excellent! Ten times better than my AKAI and Steinberg's Recycle. I think it kicks my AKAI's ass in almost every respect now. Highly Reccommended!
