I havent seen too many reviews here for this machine, so I thought

I'd add my impressions. It's a great synth if you want to do electronic types of

music. It's aimed for that market and has a lot of cool features. Let me rattle

off what's cool about it... Resampling with effects, built-in basic waveforms(saw, sine, etc.),

wide variety of effects (3 which can be used parallel or serial),

those nifty knobs which make it easier to adjust paramaters such

as envelope settings. Nice resonant filters (although they aren't too

subtle, but that's ok with me). Easy to import .wav's from pc(unlike the

k2000 I used to own, which would only accept certain types). Easy to

move around in the os. Easy to assign external midi controllers

to a parameter. Those are the things I can think of right now off the

top of my head. It's a sampler with personality. Using the built-in waves,

filters, effects & resampling, you could construct a cool techno/ambient/

industrial/whatever type of track without ever feeding an external

sample into the machine. Negatives: Slightly weird disk os (not bad, but takes getting used to).

Sort of slow at scsi sample transfers. My old eps-16+ could access

samples off of a hard drive faster than the A3000. Although it has a lot

of flexibility, it could use lfo sync to midi and more effects parameters

that could be controlled by midi controller. But, every machine has limitations. The A3000 is an incredibly cool piece

of gear. It's easy to waste hours just playing around with all the capabilities

that the machine offers. Go buy one.

Yes!! There is a Win95-Editor for the A3000 ... called "Tiny Wave Editor" (TWE) that supports Sample-Dump!

Ok...this is my first sampler and I think it's the best choice if you consuder the price... I suggest to buy it if you are thinking so for a lot of reason.

Get over your SIMM hassles. You CAN get cheap SIMMs that work. Hassle your Yam dealer or find them out yourself. For the money....no other sampler comes close...a nice fat internal drive, SCSI, filters, fx, lots of RAM, lots of outs & version 2 on the way. I just dig it.
