O.K. Let's get to the basics: This sampler really kicks ass! Take a professional sampler, add 3 independent effects, great filters and user friendly programming and you get the A3000. FOR A SUPER PRICE! Seems to me that a lot of people seem to have problems with installing new SIMMS, well, My 16 megs that I installed work just fine, never had a problem with my A3000, and the midi control is super. Halleluya yamaha !

Ed O. a hobbyist user from USA writes:
I have had mixed results with the SIMMs. Of the ones out of my PC,

the pair of 16 MB SIMMs worked but the 32 MB pair just showed 8mb.

The unit is simply picky about how the SIMMs are constructed I believe.

I checked out some info on SIMM manufacturing and I found out that a

lot of SIMMs use "remarked" (AKA recycled) DRAM chips. And that remarked

DRAM is a large portion of the low end SIMM market.

Geesh, you learn something new every day! I have a suggestion for storage however. The Syquest EZflyer costs

the same as a zip drive but gives you twice the capacity and

thoughput when compared to the zip. I use one with my A3000 and

have had no problems. Otherwise sonically the unit is excellent. The effects unit is

unique and the filters are quite good. The S/N ratio is also

great. Now if Yamaha would just release an editor...
