bought a used one for 200 in sweden, i use it as a compliment to my extensive vst use. drums suckbigass.. until you sample them and tweak em, 'cause internal fx sucks like a cheap prostitute in moscow. the virtualanalogue part is 5poly, wich is a bit weak, but i use it mainly for pads/basslines, and it's kickass tweaking funfunfun. i do have some timing issues. but thats when it's been on for about 36hours. and extra +++ is that the knobs send midicc (only 7bit) but anyway... i just love it.. next project is an paia fatman....

Wow. Never heard one before, but I just bought one off Ebay based on what people have been saying. After waiting for it to arrive in Japan... the day finally came and I was blown away.
This synth/drum machine really is a kick ass little box. I'd say the sounds and overall capabilities of this box far exceed it's pricing. Even the dreaded presets have some real gems in them.
The only real negative is that it could have slightly better construction. Perhaps I just think that because it's so freaking light... otherwise it seems fine.
Naturally you're going to have some limits when it comes to expressing your ideas; it's just a low-end box! The sequencing is - typically for such devices - not the strongest, but it's not too bad overall. But... isn't that what we have Cubase for?
Overall assessment: a steal for the price.

The an 200 has great sounds to be made if your willing to spend a little time on tweaking them. Honestly the drums are okay some bass fills are cool if you dont have any from any other machines. THe machines one measure sequencer is no turn on but if you know how to use this with other devices it can be a useful tool. I like the free eg which lets you record your movements for i think 4 measures is really cool. THen you have two diffrent scenes you can save to. So if you tweaked a sound you can save itonce then tweak it some more and save twice on the same user pattern. It has 16 parts but only monotimbrel which really hurts me in a way i cant describe but who cares for 140$ new who gives a flying...... All in all this is a great first timer synth to learn how wave forms are shaped once you learn them here you can apply those skills to almost any synth.

Here's the page for AN200. It contains info, sound examples and a new editor for Emagic SoundDiver, for AN and other synths. Please take a look and tell me any related information.

The AN200 is Fantastic machine, using the editor on my PC, managed to recreate alot of 80's synth sounds, especially Vince Clarke(Yazoo) bass sounds.
The machines were under-rated and this did not help with Yamaha marketing -"These are not TOYS".
I believe the AN200 is only now becoming very popular, so expect high prices on EBAY.
