This sucks! It is a toy. You cant make you're own music. It's ready made patterns!

OK, let me put an end to your argument. I sell these things and i can tell you analogue models sell far more than FM. Analogue models are generally used way more than FM, this is a fact there really is no argument on this. Evan a man from New zealand (dx boy) knew this. And to say you would be a fool to use a yamaha dx200 to get original sounding synth noises. WHAT? where is this coming from, i dont understand this comment in any way, did you get the wrong translation when you tried to write in English? The dx is capable of making some amazing and highly original sounds. That is the whole point of it. Why do you think yamaha built it? please explain. The AN200 also has the capability to make original sounds, but the range on the dx is unquestionably superior. More people are beginning to realise this with time (unfortunately). But basically it simply depends on what type of sounds you prefer. One other thing i am getting considerably pissed off by people who review these things and say the presets are cheesy. Did you expect to buy a box with amazing perfect noises all programmed into it. Really? Presets are simply a starting point for you to compose your own noises, generally speaking thats what musicians do. Presets are so shit they will generally make any serious musician laugh, but they are not suppose to be used! When you buy a guitar do you give it one strum and say that sounds shit, no you fools you tune it in and write your own songs!
This thing seems to be getting a lot of interest lately, which is good for me, but many people were hoping these yamaha models would stay as rare pieces and people would stick to the korgs and rolands. Yamaha do not promote their equipment anywhere near as much as these other brands simply because they get enough money from their other products. I think with time this will gain the recognition it deserves and become quite a classic.

RE: would like to know what is better, this or the DX200 Must apolagise for aidans comments (probly a fat kid who doesnt get out much), These two instruments are different in that one creates analogue synth sounds and the other creates fm sounds. And as we are not all experts analogue sounds are the more common fat, warm sounds you will probly be familiar with. And fm are the metallic industrial noises which are not that popular/common write now. For this reasn i prefer the dx200 (fm synth) because who wants to be doing the same thing as everybody else. except for maybe fat kids like aidan.

> would like to know what is better, this or the DX200
Stax open your mind to the possibility that some things are not better or worse - they are merely different. Go to a music store and A/B the two boxes. Choose the colour you prefer.
>yamaha AN2000 vs. Electribe ES-1, which is better
Clarence - The ES1 is a sampler - the AN2000 is a synthesiser/drum machine. What is better a horse or a bicycle ? Answer - it depends how deep the lake is.
