So no reason to diss a machine you only played in the store with. AN1x was always WAY much underestimated, so is the AN200/DX200. The sound itself varies between Prophet 5, Jupiter and ...AN1x. You can make silky pads or cranky noises or phat deep basses or squealing leads...even 303 is possible, better than the original (thanks to the Feedback-function...)but watch your speakers! AN can scream very mean!

Aaron, usually you have to dig more into Yamaha Gear before you realize how fantastic the synth is. I have the AN1x which has 10 instead 5 poly and after messing with the nice AN1x-Edit i got some REALLY phat sounds out of it. Since the AN200 is pretty much a AN1x, you should have tried it to edit the sounds with AN1x-edit also. Well, you missed a good machine.

The AN1x would be a much better choice than the AN200 unless you need a "all in one" unit. Hard to find the AN1x anymore tho since it has been discontinued. Too bad. Why did Yamaha do that? AN200 seems to be geared more for the "one box does all" crowd. Peace.

THIS THING BLOWS NUTS. I ONLY PAID 450 FOR IT, AND ILL BE SELLING IT ON EBAY. IM MUCH MORE HAPPY WITH MY CLAVIA NORD MICRO MODULAR SYNTH. (WWW.CLAVIA.COM) AND KORG ELECTRIBE ER1. DO NOT BUY

This little beauty is nothing but the AN1x with half poliphony and in a smaller box...... Could be the deepest bass or the weirdest sound, the sweetest pad or the coolest groove...... Peace.
