craigj a hobbyist user from usa writes:
very cool sounds, but i find it quite cumbersome to use midi to obtain (and edit) the additional performance sounds. my solution? sequence your bits first, then make the most out of the intuitive interface of this synth while you keep the sequence looping till you get a sound that you love, and sample it. then you are only limited by your samplers polyphony/memory. i have yet to find an editor for mac that actually functions. any clues?

Captain NRG a professional user from The USA writes:
I think this is the best keyboard around for the CA$H. I use it in my recording stuido every day - being a dance music producer/remixer. I have been able to get around the performance voice limitiation a couple of ways... 1. I have 2 samplers and can just sample the sound I am looking for a few times

2. Play the same music through different channels. this can give the impression

of more performance voices. KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK YAMAHA!!

Jerker Malm a hobbyist user from Sweden writes:
I just wanted to say this. A lot of people think that you can only use MIDI

channels 5-16 for the MULTI mode sounds. This is not true, you can use

channel 2-4 aswell if you acccess them thru a GM editior in a sequencer program

(Cubasis for example). The deal is that the CS1x dont tell you that you can use

channel 2-16 for MULTI sounds (providing that you have the performace sound on

channel 1 =)). When you program the CS1x in your favorite sequencer put the

synth in PERFORMANCE mode, now channel 1 is used for the selected PERFORMANCE

sound, but you can access the MULTI sounds thru a GM editor in the sequencer and

use the MULTI parts along with the PEFORMANCE part as a GM soundmodule on MIDI

channels 2-16. Other wise I think it's a great synth but unfortunaly it's almost

completely useless without a good sequencer.

Moondawg a hobbyist user from Canada writes:
Actually, this is my first synth. True, I bought it for the bargain price asked

first (around 999CA$). I never did played the keys before, nor did I knew how

to compose. Well, a couple months later I bought a PC sequencer and started

composing... This synth is the best synth for people who starts. The sounds

are very good, you can have up to 13 material voices. I don't even use the Xg

sounds anymore! The only problem is the documentation; don't expect it to

show you how to have more than 1 material sound in a sequence, cause it even

tells you the contrary... Bang for the bucks, I give this a 5/5 rating!
