Jacob Wedin a part time user from Sweden writes:
This one sounds fairly cool, but I don't really like it anyway. The filter resonance doesn't go high enough (nowhere near self-oscillation ;-)). The envelope generators are "built in" the samples. Editing just means offsetting the values. This means you cannot really start building a sound from scratch (say, a pure sawtooth wave). Sure you can change the sounds quite extensively, but it doesn't really feel like I'm making my OWN sounds.

Also, the arpeggiator doesn't send MIDI and It's really messy to use more than one performance (=cool sound) at the same time.

It IS quite good for live playing, with lots of controls and a cool 'morph' function.

Simon a hobbyist user from Switzerland writes:
This cool looking machine is really a bargain, it's price is unbeatable! Strings, drums, analogue sounds are exciting and you'll find hundreds of

great sounding performances on the net. You can spend nights with jamming around, the cs1x is a mindblasting live

synth! But don't try to find any usable instrument voices like piano, sax etc.

Anthony McNaught a professional user from Upper Wapping writes:
This is not as melasmatic as I would like and there is not enough emphasis

on the anacrusic beats. Having said that, the crumhorns make a wonderful buzzing

noise and it is very exciting. This anologue synth has improved my street cred

and I am no-longer a complete geek.

David Smith a hobbyist user from Scotland writes:
I know it's considered a performance synth (and the performances would seem to justify this) but using it with a sequencer really opens it up. The material sounds though slightly flat on their own can sound amazing when layered. People often seem to forget the XG sounds too. Filtering the sounds can bring out the best if done correctly, and if you're into trance like me the organic, evolving sound is a must. After reading the review from the Isreali I was quite pissed off. I know of other people that think it can only do one performance too. The truth is that it is a truly multi-trimbal synth. Incidentaly you can aply the chorus and reverb effects that are in use in the performance to any of the channels at any level.

DJL a hobbyist user from FINLAND writes:
I bought cs1x after Roland XP-10, and they sounded much different. Roland sounds veeeeeery high quality...cs1x less actually much less but "analogue" sounds are nice...and prise is loooooooow
