Hello Bruce,you'd probably be better off leaving a post like this in the Gas Station. I don't have my blue book yet, so I don't know how to sequence multitimbral performance sounds. I do know how to split the keyboard into 4 layers, which would be good for your drum problem. Using the - and + buttons directly under the arpeggiator buttons, you can switch between the 4 layers of the perf. sound. As you press the buttons, you'll see the layer number in the bottom right of the screen change. Start with 1....Then switch the perf. parameter knob on right to bottom row and choose the perf. layer button, 2nd from left. Choose from the banks which sound you want (i.e. Eurokit A). Turn the Parameter knob up to the Note Limit High/Low buttons, and using that, you can decide where and what octave range on the keyboard that sound will have. Just repeat the process, choosing which sounds each 4 layers will have. The thing I like about this, is that each layer can have a different cutoff, rez, lfo, etc. You could have4 drum kits with different cutoffs layered, and as the 3 fx processors are assignable to layers, you could distort One, chorus another, and have one heavily reverbed, and the last one dry. I like splitting it, because at the moment I'm using a dinky 4trk hardware sequencer, so instead of using all my tracks, I just have to use 1...very useful! Even after I switch to software seq, I think I'll still do this. For all you people who say the Cs1x is a crappy toy, name one synth with a $600 new price tag that gives you these features! I only wish it had an extra pair of outputs.

Help me!!!!! I got one of these cool synths, but there is one thing I can't figure out. How can I change the drum sounds when I'm in performance mode. ie. if I'm using the synth in this mode I can only get 1 performance sound and 12 XG sounds, including normal boring sounding drums and percussion on channel 10. Please help me..I need some nice drums sounds ....quick!!! I'll give it 5/5 if I can figure this one out!!

CS1x is an affordable nice synth. But when comparing to other synths like AN1x and JP-8000, it was still missing something.

I want to know why all these morons are calling the CS1 a "virtual analog" or "analog physical modeling" synth, when it's an XG synth with some added features and an arpeggiator (now now Children, we all know the difference between the CS1X and the AN1X, right????)....Now that I've said that, I want to add this...This is without a doubt the best synth you can buy for under a grand. They can easily be found for 500-600 US dollars, and mine has more than pulled its weight beside my other keyboards. I've read some other reviews on this page that claim this keyboard "sucks" and is "a toy"...I can easily categorize those users into the following groups: they either (1)Have no idea how to use this synth(RTFM) or (2) Are cheap asses who expected to get a Nord Lead or the EX5 for 600 bucks....dream on! If you know what you're doing, you'll get more than your money's worth out of the CS1X...Just don't expect it to be anything more than what it is...a good basic synthesizer at a decent price. Peace and Love, Y'all!!!! 5 out of 5 stars, even if the MIDI implementation isn't the greatest (if you know how to play, you won't need MIDI!!!!)

Chertsy, On the utility bar (bottom line of the matrix) hit RCV channel. Then use the LAYER buttons (under arpeggiator on/off, to the left of the LCD) to select the channel you want to turn off. Then use the RCV matrix button to bring it all the way up past 16; that will be off.
The CS1x is great for a begiiner with some MIDI experience, but the all in one machine is an illusion... (at any price) get a sampler and mixer next, or a drum machine.
