I think that posibillities of this machine are great for this price. You can get out some very cool sounds for example pads are great. For machine at this price you can�t want some VA or analog modeling systems. At my opinion it�s nice and useful for everyone.

I've been reading all the diverse commentary concerning the CS1x and it seems to me that while most comments are favorable, the ones that aren't, are negative for the wrong reasons. It also seems that professional users are more positive than "part timers" or "hobbyist".(Just an observation). Now my opinion: I got lucky & bought my CS1x over a year ago used for only $300. During my 27 year recording & live performing career I've bought nearly every hot synth to come along, including Moog,(MiniMoog,PolyMoog,& MemoryMoog),ARP(2600,& Odysseys "4"),Sequential Circuits (Prophet5 & Pro One),Oberheim(4 voice, 2 voice,& Matrix 6), several Rolands and Yamahas, and a host of digital synths. Tens of thousands of dollars, and the CS1x is the value dollar for dollar I've ever seen. No it's not true analog! But try sequencing on any of the afore mentioned synths and and see how far you get. One of my Odysseys and my MiniMoog are modified for MIDI control but you can only turn notes on and off via MIDI. No pitch bend, or modulation, or filter sweeps. The CS1x give me all of that and more with some really better than average analog simulations. I've been sequencing music since I got an MSQ 700 about 12 years ago and now I can capture some of that animation and expressiveness through MIDI that only many, many hours of punching in & out on analog recorders gave me before. Again, no it's not analog, but neither are the MC303 or the Nordlead. Well that's my opinion and I'm sticking to it.

I just love my CS1x. I even used it on a cd which I produced. In my opinion it is an unbeatable synth in its price. And a good start to build your setup. You can realy made fat sounds with it. I agree whith the people wo say this is a Fun synth to play. Of course there are better and fatter synths out there but they are maybe not so easy to programm as this one.

Everyone seems to have something negative to say about this keyboard. Alright, so it's not the best analog emulator out there, but it'll kick the crap out of an MC-303 and it's a hell of a lot cheaper than a Nord Lead! The rule here is trust your ears not what the "analog purists" tell you. The performance patches are strong and with a little creativity, you can build some awesome drones and squelches. Editing the patches is a snap and the knobs on top, well what can you say.. The effects are thick and can really bring out the expressiveness of the performances. I've spent hours tweeking the thing and I've never walked away without finding a new sound to use. Hook it up to a computer sequencer/editor and you can really unlock this blue beast's potential. With their price tag dropping to around $350, you can't find a more versitile board for the money. Since purchasing mine, I've bought a Juno1, Moog, Matrix 6, and Poly800 but and the CS1x still makes it's way into every song.

What I like most is the color. Then the analogue sounds aren't too bad. Compared to the MC-303 all other sounds are worse. I like the knobs, but they aren't "interval-free". It's very irritating that only one performance sound can be used at a time and I think a big part of the samples used in this synth are bad sampled (noise and irregularity). I suppose I sound like a pessimist, but I can assure that this synth isn't for professional use, but just perfect for the beginner hobby-ist. I'm thinking of buying something new, more serious stuff, but maybe I'll keep my CS1x as a midi keyboard. I wouldn't buy something similiar.
