I thinks the CS2X rocks. People who don't like it are people who don't read manuals or don't want to learn ohow to program a synth. This synth is very powerful and the effects are great. Plus the samples are very clean and well programmed. A 16megs rom IS a huge improvement. I have to tell you that before I bought this synth, I shopped for a year. I am the kind of guy to look at every detail and try every synth in my price range and some that are not to compare. I was going to buy the Korg N5 but when I fiddled with cs2x, I knew I had a winner. I wanted an expressive synth with filters that bite. The N5 resonance and filters in general are crap. Only two effects processors.

All you need with the cs2x is a sblive sound card so you can get good drum soundfonts. and Maybe a jv1010 like another user suggested....that synth is a steal BTW acoustics are incredible and use the cs2x for analog synth and pads... BTW the jv1010 is great for pads also very rich as most roland synths are.

A cool synth, I don't regret buying it. It's cheap too. It's got tons of cool sounds, and a very easy to use synth section. Only one performance? Well you can't win em all when the price is this low. ( lots of cool XG / material voices you can use anyway with a external sequenser.) This synth has come out best in quite a few "cheap-synth" reviews. e.g.

The synth is great (and it is not my first synth), even though only one performance can be used at at time you can worked around by layering the sound on the remaning twelve chanels, (not only the XG)but also the material-sounds(there are aproximatly 1500 of them) The only thing i realy hate about it is the color(silverblue)though that is just me coz all of my friends think that it looks realy cool (i think that all synths should be black with lots of shiny LED´s on them and instead of an LCD display there should be one of those flurecent green matrix displays (like the one on the JP-8000)

danm, all these bad reviews. i'm shocked. i love this thing!

i got the CS2X brand new in box for $640...

i cant find anywhere where i can get this much synth power for that price. sure its lacking a few things i like to see in ALL boxes, like multiple outputs.. but its a damn nice controller and synth engine for 600 bucks! with the aid of cakewalk studioware profiles, i can assign all its 8 controller knobs to various parameters of my old Juno or MKS-7 and tweak out sounds in real time... i LOVE that. that alone maks it worth some serious dough to me! but the performance sections rock too. i use several performance sections in every track i write.. nice sick weird sounds. i guess from a cs1x owner's point of view its not much more than a cs2x.. but maybe they should have played it in the store before spending the bucks on version 2! but it still a hell of a lot of synth for the bucks. i'd go out and buy it again in a second! :-)

After reading very much bad reviews of this synth Let's say something about is. I own a Cs1X and can't believe that the Cs2x is actually a bad synth. Why?

16 mb rom is a lot more than my Cs1x. And my bleu box still roX. And I can make the weirdest sounds out of it. I don't care How expensive a unit is. The Cs1x does the job and with a little tweaking and CREATIVITY. Uou can make NICE TECHNO. YOU read it TECHNO and other music. Becaus music is not what comes out of the box, but what comes out of your MIND. So I dont't see the point why the CS2x isn't capable of that. I know that all new users of this range of machines complain about the ability to use only one performance, but you can really work around it and use the material sounds and Yes I know without the variation fx, but with chorus and reverb you can also make very nice sounds.

OK that was positive, the only bad thing about it is that it is not a good upgrade from the cs1x. So I agree with the people who are dissapointed after upgrading from the cs1x that the cs2x offered little more. I can feel that they feel, let's say robbed of their money and now they see that the cs6x comes out which is an update. So rushing the Cs2x was not a very good idea from Yammi.

But if you look at the price and the specs from the 'new users' perspective I think it's good value for mony. And it's better than the N5E in analog like (because it's pcm) sounds. I rate it a fair 4
