Got mine about a month ago. Impressions are mixed.

There is no doubting the quality of the performance patches. Fantastic sounds are possible with a plethora parameters to tweak.

The XG midi stuff is good too, but the only real way to get the best out of it is to use a sequencer and delve in to the mysterious world of SysEx and controller messages.

People slag it off, but listen to the demos and hear what is possible if the effort is put in to learn how to use it.

In summary, learning curve is steep, but the reward is a powerful, flexible instrument.

Totally overpriced (here in Sweden at least). I see no reason at all why it should be more expensive then CS1x. Recommended price is 8995 SEK, CS1x at relese was 6995 SEK. At the rate technology has improved (and gone down in price) the last three years it should even be cheaper IMHO. 50% of R&D cost is overtaken for CS1x (wich was a huge succes) most of the samples comes from the EX's. Only improvement is some ROM, 64 voices and two knobs... What should have been fixed for this to be priceworthy (IMHO ofcourse) is: 1. Separate outs 2. more flexible FX system. I liked the CS1x as a livesynth though, so maybe if CS2x comes down (a lot) in price, it'll be worth locking in to...

Hey there - played with the CS2x in the music store for around a half hour. My impressions were immense - as a CS1x user, I find this to be a definite improvement and impressive expansion - high-quality sounds for techno, ambient, and industrial, very nice and new arpeggios, the same great editing matrix as the CS1x with a few improvements, and two extra knobs for decay and one more thing... I'd say for the price it is at (about $700 last time i checked), a very very good buy. Be careful with it though - it is still the plastic-enclosed keyboard like the CS1x and is prone to being damaged if not taken properly care of. Buy a hard-shell case with it if you move around a lot.
